Nothing's Perfect

Well, as so often happens, I am stuck on one part of a new song that I am writing. Usually for me, this part is the bridge. Bridges most often are the most difficult part of a song for me. This time, however, it is the last verse. I think I strayed too far away from what was real about the song's story. I think I may need to rethink the title and the concept behind it. The current title is Nothing's Perfect. It is a little bit of a downer but with redeeming qualities. The main thing that gets me so frustrated with this world is that nothing is perfect and that it takes a fraction of a second to scuff a shoe, scratch your car, or even lose a loved one. The redeeming part of the song I was trying to portray was to also say that you don't need to be so hard on yourself if you are not perfect, because nothing is and you just need to do your best. Wish me luck and keep an ear out for it soon on the music page.

Olive Sun - New Song

There is a new song on the music page. It is called Olive Sun. I hope you like it. I like it a lot and think that it is one of my strongest songs. I have been trying as of late to write more uptempo songs. This is one of them. It is, of course, about my beautiful wife. So, have a listen and tell me what you think by commenting on the blog.
Thanks for listening.

The Winds Wept - Live

www.JeremyBlanchard.com

If any of you are like me, you have tried to buy www.jeremyblanchard.com and have been foiled by someone else owning it. This other person's ownership was due to expire in July so I checked at that time and it seemed as though he had renewed it, even though there was no site posted. For some odd reason yesterday, in the middle of my busy work day I decided to check it.
"What's This?" I exclaimed. It appeared to be available. So I went to my trusty godaddy.com account and promptly bought it up. I am now the proud owner of www.jeremyblanchard.com. At present you will find my website floating in between two locations. Shortly this will all be rectified and officerockstar.com will point to jeremyblanchard.com. Check it out.

#1 Again.

Just as an update. I have now been to the open mic at Java Joe's in Milton three times, and every time it has been great. They are very friendly and welcoming. There are also many talented musicians who frequent the event. The order of performers is decided by picking names out of a hat. In theory it is 100% random. The first time I played there, I was first. I like going first. That's fine. The second time I was second, but the lady who was first had an allergic reaction to the cleaning bleach, therefor I was first again. As said before, I like going first, that's fine. This last time I signed up and what do you know, I was first again. I like going first, but 3 out of 3. What are the odds. If I were a betting man I would have lost. I tried to make a joke of it but I am afraid it may have come across to strong. It went well. I played my new song Olive Sun and people seemed to like it. Thanks for listening.

Java Joe's This Friday

This Friday I will be playing at Java Joe's in East Milton Square.
They hold a weekly open mic and this will be my third time
attending. They are a kind group of singer/songwriter folk who seem
to care about what people are playing. Come join us at 7:00 in the PM.
~see you there.

Justin from M-Audio

Here's to Justin from M-Audio in sunny California.

I have been having issues with my FireWire audio interface for sometime now and I finally got so fed up that I called to complain about it and get help to fix it.
Well, Justin didn't fix my problem so much, but he was very nice and laid back, California style. I am awaiting an email that will have serious fix it up instructions.
So, Here is to Justin and here is to technology, when it works!!!

Internet Explorer 7

For those of you still stuck in the 90's and insist on hanging on to an out of date browser, namely Internet Explorer, today is your somewhat lucky day. The huge software company, which shall remained unnamed, has recently released its new version to the almost useless web browser. I discovered this while trying to make my site more IE friendly. Guess what all you IE faithfuls.... you now have tabbed browsing. It only took them 5 years to adopt this wonderful feature. I too used to use IE but was introduced to Safari and Firefox and the world of tabbed browsing. It changed the way I "surf the net, dude" just like TiVo will change the way you watch TV.
Even though this new IE doesn't make my site look any better, IE itself looks a lot better and is a much more useful tool, thanks to the brilliance of whomever thought of tabbed browsing years and years ago and now the goliath software company, afore unmentioned, has adopted this wonderful feature. Enjoy it before they change their mind back.

A New Pop-out music player.

I have added a new pop-out music player to the music page. Now you
can surf around the internet, and by internet I mean my site, while
listening to my music. This works best in Firefox. There is a link
for said browser on my Welcome page at the bottom. Also notice the
new and improved photo albums, also in pop-out windows.

Now you too can subscribe to the Office Rockstar Post

My apologies to those of you who have tried to subscribe to my post and could not. Now you can. It is all straitened out. Just click on the on the RSS button in the address bar.

Blogger is Slacking Again

I have tried to post my blog several times to no avail. Blogger must hate me. Or it's making regular blogger bite so that people will switch to the new blogger. So, I doubt that you will even see this for a while. Let's give it another go.

New New New

Hopefully you've noticed some more new things on this site.  Namely, the photos page and the main page.  Both utilize the same flash program to rotate through the photos.  I hope you like it.  You may have also noticed that this site doesn't look quite right when viewed with Internet Explorer.  Turns out the IE doesn't much like my code. Oh well, down with Microsoft anyway. Keep your eye out for some new songs and new videos soon.

The New and Improved Music Page

Check out the Music page and you will now find an embedded player. No more will you have to laboriously download each song individually. This also allows for higher quality files. You should expect the look of the page to change slightly over the next week or so but the functionality will remain the same. Thanks to Jeroen Wijering for supplying the code for the player. Hartelijk bedank. I will provide the link to his page at the bottom of the Music page later.

Too Cold for the Bike?!

Today is the first day since riding the bike to work, what I have not taken the bike when the weather is dry. I have been taking the bike everyday unless it is raining. Today, however, the windchill brought the temp. down to 36 degrees. I figured that was a little too cold. I have ridden when it is in the lower forties. I figured the upper thirties was too cold. Think what you will but I have my limits.

Ch...Ch...Ch...Changes

Things have changed, as I am sure you have noticed. Gone is the
Movie page. I couldn't get it to start playing the movie right away
so it took days to load. I have thus loaded the video onto YouTube
and have put it in my blog. Unless things change, all of my future
videos will be done the same way.
Also the old blog is gone. If you really want to see it you can go
here. It, however, will not be updated from this point on. Out with
the old, in with the new. I have incorporated a Blogger.com blog
into my website. As you can see it looks ok. There is space up at
the top of the page that I am having trouble getting rid of. But
believe you me I will keep trying.
Who knows what else will change in the future. I am thinking of
doing something else with my photos page. Here's hoping that this
blogger blog will work out.
Thanks for checking in.

What is up with Blogger.com?

I can't seem to get an entry to post until I send a subsequent entry which pushes it out of the queue. This entry is, of course, a test.

Techincal Difficulties

I appologize for some technical difficulties that this site is having.  I have posted several entries and nothing is appearing.  But all is on the up and up. Hang in there.

Impending Website

I am currently heavily investigating the best way to get my self a web site. I own the domain name www.officerockstar.com. I am trying to figure out exactly how hosting works and the most cost effective (cheap) way to do it. Wish me luck.

Open Mic from the "Days of '69"

Last night I went to an open mic in Cambridge at a Methodist church. It was run by two people who apparently own a coffee house under the name of Squawk. All the publications and listings have 9:00 PM as the start time, however, the said owners of said coffee house didn't show up until 9:30. This of course raised the same question again, "Why do I bother showing up on time?" I felt like I was back in my hippy town of Northern California. I tried to be open and accepting but it was a little too much for me. There were 3 performers including myself and about as many audience members. I played, I listened to be courteous and I left. Don't be surprised if I have a Feature spot there in the coming months.

A song a day keeps the boredom away.

I haven't as of yet started my official training and I have reached my level of understanding with my unofficial training. I have read the manuals and gathered as much as I could file away in my head. So to fight off boredom and try to make good use of my time and energy I wrote a song. I started it during a meeting, then had lunch, then spent the rest of the afternoon writing and thinking. It is only a rough draft but it has potential to be a good song. It is called "She flows like water through my hands" or some version of that. It is almost time to face another day of trying to fight off the boredom. Wish me luck.

Entering the Corporate Machine

On May 8th I entered the corporate machine on the first day of new hire orientation. I have since been given a desk with supplies (stapler, tape, paperclips....) and a computer and a phone. It will be a couple weeks before I start my official training so my time is filled with finding resources to research to occupy my time and familiarize me with the software. The afternoons have been the hardest so far. I enjoy it so far, over all. The people are kind and I feel comfortable.

Hello all,
Welcome to the personal blog of the Office Rockstar. This blog will track my musical life as I work inside the corporate world for sustenance and benefits.
